For 2012 we have added an additional departure from Brechin at 4:00pm giving passengers boarding at Bridge of Dun a longer stay at Brechin. Please note that Thomas will not be on this departure but will be hauled by a heritage diesel and is one way to Bridge of Dun only.
We offer two different journey types, as seats are allocated we suggest that these are booked in advance. Broken/break returns must be booked in advance as these may not available for sale on the day, if available, seats are not allocated.
Direct Return
With this ticket you start your journey at Brechin and travel to Bridge of Dun. The train spends about 10 minutes there and then returns to Brechin to enable you to enjoy the rest of your day.
Broken/Break Return
With this ticket you may start your journey at Brechin, stay at Bridge of Dun for a picnic or take the classic bus to the House of Dun or Montrose. Pick up the bus to take you back to Bridge of Dun for your return to Brechin. The other option is to commence your journey at Bridge of Dun arriving there by car or on the classic bus and then take the train to Brechin. Spend time at Brechin before returning back to Bridge of Dun to your own transport or the classic bus. Please note the bus departs Bridge of Dun Station at the same time as the train. The fare is the same as for a direct return.
Advance Booking
All trains may be booked in advance but as seating is limited for the BROKEN/BREAK RETURN option, these must be booked in advance.
Compartments
These are available at extra cost for groups of 5 to 8 paying passengers. Please note that these are only for DIRECT RETURNS FROM BRECHIN ONLY.
Wheelchair/Disabled Saloon
A saloon with ramp access is available for DIRECT RETURNS FROM BRECHIN ONLY.
All activities are subject to availability the railway reserves the right to alter these but will always endeavour to replace with a similar activity where possible.
